The most important biomotor abilities and their relationship to the performance of discus throwing among students of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences
Abstract
Rapid scientific and technological development is one of the most prominent features of the modern era, as its influence has extended to encompass various areas of human life, and the accompanying modern inventions and achievements have brought about fundamental and profound changes. This development has opened new horizons for research and development in the field of sports, especially in the mother of all games (athletics), which is the sport that has won the most medals in the Olympic Games. Hence, the importance of the study lies in understanding the relationship between biokinetic abilities and the performance of the discus throw event. The problem lies in the following question: Is there a relationship between some biokinetic abilities and the performance of students in the discus throw event? To identify the relationship between some biokinetic abilities and the performance of students in the discus throw event. The researcher relied on the descriptive approach with its correlational style due to its suitability to the nature and problem of the study. During the academic year (2024-2025), the study sample was intentionally selected from thirty second-year students at the College of Religious Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Kufa. The results showed a positive effect of the explosive power of the throwing arm on improving performance and raising the level of achievement in the discus throw event. Based on the test results, they can be ranked according to their degree of importance to this activity. From this perspective, it is important for teachers to focus their teaching on exercises designed to develop explosive power, given their direct and effective impact on improving athletic achievement in the discus throw.
