The effectiveness of increasing intensity physical effort on motor response, speed-specific strength, and shooting skill performance from a standing position in basketball for young players
Abstract
The importance of this study is to highlight the role of increasing intensity physical effort in developing the physical and skill capabilities of young basketball players, especially the strength characterized by speed and motor response, because of its direct impact on improving skill performance, especially the skill of shooting from a standstill, which helps in raising the technical and physical level of players and enhancing their readiness for competitions. Therefore, the researcher, through her personal experience, deliberately introduced increasing intensity physical effort training and identified its impact on developing the skill performance of the skill of shooting from a standstill after developing the physical and motor capabilities affecting the skill, including the strength characterized by speed and motor response, on a sample of young men from the Solidarity Youth Basketball Club in Najaf Governorate. The aim of the study is to identify the effect of increasing intensity physical effort training in developing the strength characterized by speed, motor response and performance of shooting from a standstill in basketball for young players. The researcher adopted the experimental approach because it is the most appropriate and suitable to solve the study problem and achieve its goals. She also chose the design of two equivalent groups (experimental and control) with pre- and post-tests, due to its compatibility with the nature of the problem and the requirements of the study. The basic sample included (16) players who were deliberately selected, and they were divided into two equal groups: the first was a control group (8 players) with which the coach’s method was followed, and the second was an experimental group (8 players) with which increasing intensity physical effort training was applied. The researcher reached an increasing intensity physical effort program that contributed effectively to developing the strength characterized by speed and motor response among young basketball players, and she recommended adopting the method of increasing intensity physical effort within the training curricula for basketball players in young age groups.
