Drawing on critical and decolonial perspectives—especially the work of Freire, hooks, Zembylas, and Santos - it conceptualises education as a relational, political, and affective practice capable of challenging hegemonic structures and revaluing marginalised knowledges.

The essay addresses the enduring legacies of colonialism, epistemicide, and cultural erasure across educational systems in the Mediterranean region, emphasising the need for intercultural and emotionally intelligent leadership grounded in care, listening, and epistemic justice. Through illustrative examples from Portugal, Spain, Algeria, and Tunisia, it highlights educational practices that resist technocratic models and nurture inclusive, community-rooted learning environments.

Incorporating insights from Islamic educational thought, Maghrebi feminism, and the Epistemologies of the South, the text advocates pedagogical approaches that embrace plural rationalities, cultural reterritorialisation, and a shared ethics of dignity. The structure follows four thematic axes: ethical leadership in peripheral schools; pedagogical engagement with marginalised youth; inclusive, affective educational practices; and the construction of interregional educational alliances. The conclusion calls for a new educational pact based on epistemic co-authorship and cognitive justice. Education is understood not merely as instruction, but as an insurgent space for reimagining futures, healing historical wounds, and cultivating radical hope.
2025-09-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 http://journals.lagh-univ.dz/index.php/sej/article/view/4336Social Media Introduction and Individual Empowerment Opportunities: Measuring Awareness among Residents of Four Cities in Nigeria2025-09-30T08:09:47+00:00Akpan Udo Usiereusiere2000@yahoo.comBrightfortune Udo brightfortuneudo476@gmail.com
This work was on the social media introduction and individual empowerment opportunities. It was on the measuring of awareness among residents of four cities in Nigeria. The three main objectives were: To find out the proportion of persons who adapt to the introduction of social media for empowerment opportunities in four cities of Nigeria; To find out the aspect of social empowerment opportunities in which social media introduction has offered to residents of four cities in Nigeria; To find out the main barrier which affect social media contribution to raise empowerment opportunities in four cities of Nigeria. The scope of work was limited to four cities in Nigeria which were Ilorin, Onitsha, Zaria and Jos. The population was taken at 4,877,153 persons and a sample of 800. The instrument of research was a structure questionnaire proportionately distributed to respondents in the four cities. The method of research was through the use of online surveys. The data analysis was through frequency tables with percentages. Findings revealed that 488 persons supported that entertainment was the major aspect of social empowerment gained from social media against health care information, education and politics. Other findings had it that on the barriers of social media to the contributions on empowerment of users, Falsehood had 488 or (61%). This is the most significant barrier identified, accounting for more than half (61%) of the total responses. It suggests a major trust deficit in the content of radio broadcasting or adult education messaging. Individuals possibly perceive social media content as inaccurate, misleading, or propagandistic. The data highlights that content credibility, audience literacy, and socioeconomic/cultural factors play major roles in the effectiveness of radio broadcasting and adult education. The findings was also that social media restricted access due to false contents affect empowerment in as much as cost which should be considered by subsidization or free access models while programs should be culturally sensitive and, where appropriate, involve religious leaders or integrate educational content in religious programming formats. Sensitization campaigns can also address misconceptions caused by religious biases. Recommendations are that addressing these barriers through targeted strategies will enhance outreach and impact, especially in the Nigerian context where radio remains a vital tool for mass communication and education. The conclusions had it that there is a clear need for digital literacy programs, affordable internet access, and awareness campaigns that educate users about the productive use of social media—especially in underrepresented or underserved communities. There is also a need for audience feedback mechanisms and verification of facts to counteract misinformation.
2025-09-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 http://journals.lagh-univ.dz/index.php/sej/article/view/4338A Study on the Influence of the Country of Origin on Women’s Purchasing Behavior: A Case Study of Kitenge Garment2025-09-30T05:33:51+00:00Pierre Celestin Bimenyimanapcbimenyimana@ur.ac.rwBideri Ishuheri Nyamulindadrnbideri@gmail.comHabimana Augustine Rugemaahabimana@gmail.comMusonera Etienneemusonera@yahoo.frSamuel Mutarindwa smutarinda@gmail.com
This study analyzes the impact of the nation of origin on women's purchasing behaviors of Kitenge garments. The study uses quarterly data from 2010q1 to 2022q4 to evaluate the long run relationship between the financial sector and economic growth using the methodology of autoregressive distributed lag models, the bounds test for cointegration with structural breaks. The study finds that institutions moderate the relationship between financial sector development and economic growth in Nigeria with the coefficients of institution having a statistically significant positive relationship with the economic growth. The study therefore finds that with good institutions such as good governance quality and control of corruptions the effect of financial sector development on economic growth could be felt on the economy. Using a descriptive analytical approach, the study reached several positive results that reflect the direct impact of needs assessment on the success and sustainability of humanitarian programs. The results showed that needs assessment is a pivotal step in ensuring that resources are effectively directed towards the most affected groups, which contributes significantly to achieving project objectives and raising beneficiary satisfaction. The absence of needs assessment has consequences that include project failure, poor resource allocation, and impact on project continuity. The results also revealed a clear direct relationship between the quality of needs assessments and the success of humanitarian projects, as projects based on accurate needs assessments were more impactful and effective in the field. The study also revealed a number of challenges facing needs assessment processes, such as a lack of accurate data, weak coordination between implementing agencies, and limited qualified personnel. However, the results showed that overcoming these challenges is possible by adopting assessment mechanisms based on community participation, employing modern analytical tools, and strengthening the capacities of working teams. Based on the analysis, the study recommends a set of measures to improve needs assessment processes, including: enhancing training and capacity building in the field of needs assessment; adopting unified and transparent criteria for determining intervention priorities; strengthening coordination between humanitarian organizations and local authorities; and involving the local community in all stages of the assessment to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data. Overall, this study confirms that improving needs assessment processes directly contributes to raising the quality of humanitarian projects and ensuring their sustainability, which positively impacts the lives of beneficiaries in Hadhramaut Governorate.
2025-09-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025
