Editorial for the Inaugural Issue
Abstract
Dear Colleagues,
We are proud and honored to launch the inaugural issue of our new online publication – The Algerian Journal of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (AJEEE)
In early experiments with electricity, Thales of Miletus was one of the first Greek thinkers, who notice static electricity around 600 BC. He writes about amber becoming charged by rubbing. Later, William Gilbert first coined the term “electricity” from the Greek word for amber. Gilbert wrote about the electrification of many substances in his “De magnete, magneticisique corporibus”. He was also the first person to use the terms electric force, magnetic pole, and electric attraction. However, the actual design, construction and manufacturing of useful devices and systems began with the implementation of Michael Faraday's Law of Induction, which essentially states that the voltage in a circuit is proportional to the rate of change in the magnetic field through the circuit. This law applies to the basic principles of the electric generator, the electric motor and the transformer.
The advent of the modern age is marked by the introduction of electricity to homes, businesses and industry, all of which were made possible by electrical engineers. Some of the most prominent pioneers in electrical engineering include Thomas Edison (electric light bulb), George Westinghouse (alternating current), Nikola Tesla (induction motor), Guglielmo Marconi (radio) and Philo T. Farnsworth (television). These innovators turned ideas and concepts about electricity into practical devices and systems that ushered in the modern age.
In the late 19th century Electrical engineering becomes one of the newer branches of engineering and a profession. It concerned with design, development, and tests of electrical and electronic devices and systems. And works with equipment ranging from tiny computer chips to huge power station generators. It usually work in different areas: power generation and transmission; high voltage, electric materials; electronics; computers; communication systems; instrumentation and measurement; automatic control and materials.
In light of this development, our new journal looks at the potential of original researches and high quality contribution works within laboratories and universities in the field of Electrical Engineering. In the best interests of the electrical engineering community, AJEEE will be freely accessible via the Internet for immediate worldwide, open access to the full text of articles. All readers will be able to download and/or print any article at no cost. There will be neither subscription fees nor processing fees for the authors. Authors who publish in the journal will retain the copyright to their article.
AJEEE will be initially published two times a year with contributions from researchers. The editorial policy of AJEEE will be guided by the high standards of scientific quality and integrity, professional responsibility and human compassion. The procedure is confidential so that recommendations and revisions are made in the fairest way possible. The final decision on publication will be made by the editor in charge.
We are very proud and honored to launch the inaugural issue of our new online publication – Algerian Journal of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (AJEEE). We are cordially inviting authors world-wide to submit their research papers, doctoral dissertations, technical notes, reviews, and Industry Forum articles.
Finally, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the many individuals who contributed to making it possible to launch this journal. My great thanks also goes out to my co-editors and editorial office team for accepting to guide with me this journal from initial planning to the first steps it is taking now.
Editor-in-Chief
Sincerely yours
