Characteristics and Objectives of Mosque Discourse
Abstract
Mosque discourse falls within the domain of persuasive communication, as it seeks to influence the attitudes and behaviors of its audience through purposeful and direct messages. It is a goal-oriented form of communication that plays a significant role in disseminating religious teachings and conveying Islamic messages.
Mosque discourse constitutes an integral part of Islamic discourse, representing the interaction of the Muslim intellect with the infallible divine revelation. It is regarded as one of the most challenging forms of public discourse in terms of preparation because of the diversity of its audience, which includes children, youth, adults, and the elderly, as well as the wealthy and the poor, scholars and learners, the knowledgeable and the uneducated, the obedient and the disobedient, among others.
