The Role of the Physical Education Teacher's Personality in Developing Students' Positive Behavior:
A Field Study from the Perspective of Secondary School Students
Abstract
Teaching is considered one of the noblest professions and one of the most influential in shaping individuals and society. It requires teachers to possess professional competence, pedagogical skills, and firmly established ethical values that are reflected in their sense of responsibility toward learners and in achieving the educational objectives of society. Within this context, this study aimed to examine the role of the personality of the physical education teacher in fostering students' positive behavior by investigating its psychological, social, and educational impact from the perspective of a sample of secondary school students.
The findings revealed that the personality of the physical education teacher is a key factor in guiding students' behavior and promoting positive values. This is attributed to the nature of the educational relationship established between teachers and students, as well as the opportunities provided by physical education and sports activities for continuous interaction and direct observation. These opportunities enable teachers to better understand students' psychological and social characteristics and guide them in a positive manner. The study also confirms the conclusions of previous educational literature regarding the significant role of physical education teachers in the educational process and their contribution to promoting positive behavior and supporting the holistic development of students' personalities.
