A Critical Reading of the Book: The Tafsīr Heritage of Abū al-Ḥasan al-Ḥarallī al-Marrākushī (d. 638 AH)
Abstract
This research is a reading in a book on the sciences of the Holy Quran. The book was written by AlimamAbialhassanAlharaalliAlmarraakchi (683H), who is a significant religious scolar with great works. The writer's style is sofisticated and unique to the point that it makes the reader feel awe and his contributions to the mental and copy sciences are huge. He is a religious scholar who met IbnAlarabiAlhaatimi, who hosted him for three days before telling him: "You either live here and we leave or you leave and we stay because two heretics can't be in one place." Thus, the importance of sharing the knowledge of Alharaali stems from his peculiar mentality and approach to sufism as well as his diverse contributions in many streams of knowledge. Also, the writer in question is a prompinent figure that reflects the prestige of Moroccan Culture in the age of the Mohads. Moreover, it is a priority to share his heritage because he is the first moroccan to publish a book in explanation in the age of the Mohads - that we know of- and because explanation is what he was famous for the most since he has many personal interpretations as if he was building new rules for the science of understanding the Holy Quran; similar to the rules that were invented by AlaswadAldaoli for Syntax and AlImamAlchaafii's science of FiQh Origins.
