The Impact of Extremism on Islamic–Christian Peaceful Coexistence in Iraq: Historical Evidence
Abstract
The problem of extremism is one of the main issues that concern many contemporary societies, as it is a daily global issue in which the causes and sites overlap extends to the structural formation of the ideas, doctrines and ideals that society satisfies. Other phenomena that are largely related to historical, political, religious, social, economic and other conditions that society is exposed to from inside or outside its country.
The study tries to trace and clarify the different historical stages through which the nature and paths of that relationship went through from the impact of extremism on coexistence between Muslims and Christians in Iraq in light of different political regimes that followed the rule of Iraq, which was a model for religious tolerance among other Arab and Islamic countries, when all Iraqis preserved their presence. As much as the neighborhood allows on one geographical area, except that their closeness and dissonance at certain times did not lead to the extent of cancellation or forced migration, as happened between 2003 and 2014
