The role of the neuropsychological profile in distinguishing between subjective memory complaint and early indicators of pathological ageing
Abstract
This study aimed to highlight the role of the neuropsychological profile in distinguishing between subjective memory complaint and early indicators of pathological ageing, taking cognitive reserve into account. The study adopted a clinical approach, examining two cases referred for neuropsychological assessment who presented with subjective memory complaint. A battery of neuropsychological tests was used in the assessment. The results revealed differences in the neuropsychological profiles of the two cases.
The findings were interpreted in the light of available neuroimaging data and cognitive reserve. The study concluded that the neuropsychological profile helps distinguish subjective memory complaint from early indicators of pathological ageing.
