Abstract

This study aims to assess the actual role of the social worker in providing social and pedagogical accompaniment to students at the (Al-Manar) Youth Center, from the perspective of the volunteer supervisory staff involved in non-formal education (remedial support lessons). It seeks to reveal the nature and importance of this role in supporting students educationally, psychologically, socially, and pedagogically, as well as measuring their level of satisfaction with the social worker's performance. Furthermore, the study aims to identify the prominent challenges and difficulties faced by the social worker while exercising their duties within the school/educational environment at the youth center, and to highlight their proposals for the key ways to improve professional performance to ensure effective and continuous support tailored to students' diverse needs and problems.

The results revealed that the social worker plays an important role in helping students adapt within the educational and social environment, improving their academic achievement, and reducing behavioral and psychological problems. The findings also showed that the effectiveness of this role is influenced by several factors, including collaboration between the social worker and the volunteer supervisory staff, as well as the availability of human and material resources within the institution.

The study concluded with the necessity of enhancing coordination mechanisms between social workers and the volunteer supervisory staff at the (Al-Manar) Youth Center, and providing them with various forms of institutional and training support. This would elevate the quality of social and pedagogical accompaniment provided to students within youth centers, particularly in the context of non-formal education.
