Social control and marriage in the traditional Algerian family

Abstract

This study aims at examining the relationship between the most important social
controls; represented in religion, ethics, customs and law; which are more modeled for
social norms; and the traditional marriage at various stages: marriage choice; engagement
and reading of al-Fatihah; wedding ceremonies. Thus to reach our aim we focused on
defining the concept of social control, particularly its kinds and means, besides, spotting
light on the constraints set by the controls of religion, ethics, law and custom on traditional
marriage at all stages.
