A treatment program for families with a person with schizophrenia

Abstract

To be schizophrenic is to be different from others. It is leaving reality in a different
way, and terribly suffering from it. Badly informed parents, brothers and sisters ignore
what a mental disease is. It consists to a new responsibility for parents beyond everyday
life. These constituents may increase with the mother who assumes contacts only with
her child. Knowing that she is the first responsible of her child’s care in this case. The
family is exposed to psychological stress while confronting the cure phases that their
child manifests. This ego situation entails at the mother a state of unbalance. It
encourages the feeling of guilt and frustration, emotions of anger and anxiety as well as
loosing the joy of living and more, isolation. She also needs a psychological help so that
she can have a means of adaptation with having a teenager who is suffering from a
schizophrenic disorder.
This present article attempts to show the role of the therapeutic program
reaching an objective and that carries a help to parents and families of persons
suffering from schizophrenia.
