Abstract

This study aimed to know the effect of teaching with an educational software
program on students’ direction towards self-learning and educational attainment. The
study was conducted on a sample of second year students of psychology (at the University
of El Hadj Lakhdar - Batna) and used the experimental method in designing the
experimental group and the control group; the experimental group was taught using a
computer-based program including (28) students and the control group used the usual
method including (24) students. A pretest has been made first and after a workout of five
weeks a posttest was added in which a questionnaire of the students’ direction towards
self-learning was applied in addition to an achievement test. The results of the statistical
analysis showed the presence of statistically significant differences in the orientation of
students towards self-education on the part of the experimental group, while those results
proved insignificant in what concerns students’ educational attainment.
