Alzheimer's disease in Algeria: between the demographic burden and social marginalization
Abstract
In our scientific paper, we will try to define Alzheimer's disease from the medical side, through a clinical description of the mechanism of disease and the course of symptoms. From the epidemiological side, we will review the contributing factors to the disease and its prevalence among the population, based on international medical studies and research related to dementia and Alzheimer's.
We will also reveal the statistical reality of people with Alzheimer’s disease in the world in general, and Algeria in particular, through reports completed by international bodies such as the World Health Organization and the World Alzheimer’s Organization, in addition to revealing the social reality experienced by patients and their caregivers and their suffering with marginalization and social stigma.
