The effectiveness of ABA programs in developing body awareness in children
Abstract
ABSTRACT:
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in developing body part identification skills in children with autism. The researcher employed the Dayton Assessment as a tool to measure this skill before and after the intervention. A purposive sample of 15 children with autism was selected to implement the ABA program. The researcher hypothesized a positive correlation between the application of the program and the improvement in children's performance on the Dayton Assessment. Using an experimental design with pre- and post-intervention measures, data was analyzed to determine any statistically significant differences. The results of the study revealed a significant improvement in children's performance following the implementation of the ABA program, with statistically significant differences between pre- and post-intervention scores. The study attributed this improvement to ABA techniques such as repetition, imitation, positive reinforcement, modeling, and shaping, which significantly contributed to the development of body part identification components, including naming, locating, and using body parts in various contexts
