Abstract
Adopting the Post and Brennan strategy can effectively contribute to improving the offensive formations of fourth-year students in physical education and sports science colleges by enhancing deductive reasoning and developing mental habits that support skill performance. Researchers believe this study could add significant value to the field of curriculum and teaching methods, as it presents an effective educational model that strengthens the role of the university student, develops their cognitive and thinking abilities, and moves them away from superficiality and rote learning. This study also represents a new attempt to develop volleyball skills by utilizing modern teaching strategies that contribute to achieving the goals of the educational process more effectively and deeply. The study investigates whether the Post and Brennan strategy contributes to developing mental habits among fourth-year students at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, and whether applying the Post and Brennan strategy improves students' ability to perform certain offensive formations in volleyball efficiently and proficiently. The study aims to identify the impact of the Post and Brennan strategy on developing mental habits and improving the performance of certain offensive formations in volleyball for students in the experimental group. Based on this, The researchers adopted the experimental method because it was suitable for the nature of the study problem, and the research sample was limited to male students only at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, University of Kufa, totaling (80) morning students. A pilot sample of (10) male students, representing (12.5%) of the study population, was selected. The main experimental sample consisted of (24) students from the University of Kufa, representing (30%) of the total population, with (12) students in each group. The participants were selected using a simple random method for both groups and individuals. A draw was held for the two groups in the fourth stage (A and B). The most important conclusion was that the experimental group, which used the Post and Brennan strategy in developing mental habits and learning offensive formations in volleyball, outperformed the control group in post-tests. The most important recommendation is to emphasize the importance of developing mental habits in educational units and not to neglect them, given their significant role in learning strategies and formations in all sports and athletic activities.
