The Issues of Teaching Physical Education and Sports in the Primary School in Algeria- According to teachers’ point of view

Abstract

This study aims to identify the issues that face the teaching of physical education and sports in the primary school,
in Algeria, and taking them considering each aspect of teaching in regards to the objectives; content; the teacher and
the evaluation methods of education. All that in order to find possible solutions.
This study concerned eighty Arabic language teachers,They used the questionnaire as a means of research, which
contained four chapters., led us to the following conclusions:
1 – The lack of specialized training in the field of physical education and sports, for the primary school teacher,
makes him confront a lot of difficulties and problems in many aspects related to the application of educational
tenets suggested in the teacher's guide.2 –The lack of pedagogic means necessary to practise different kinds of
physical activities and sports during the course, suggested in the teacher's guide, is the main obstacle to the
development of the level of trainings in the primary stage.3 - The lack of appropriate places for practicing physical
education for all known sports activities, as well as the lack of norms and standards of security and safety pf these
areas.
