The development of the disparities in education indicators between local authorities in Algeria during the period (1998-2008)

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the trend of the development of differences in education indicators between municipalities in Algeria during the period (1998-2008). This study included all the municipalities of the

Algerian country, It is a descriptive and analytical study, by using measures of central tendency and dispersion, and using maps that give us an insight into the geographical distribution of the Algerian educational system.

The study concluded that there is an improvement in education indicators, especially in its quantitative

dimension, and on the other hand, the differences between municipalities with regard to the education indicators used during the study period are reduced, but this improvement does not mean the elimination of

these differences, rather there are shadow areas that are still characterized by low educational indicators. The

state must target it in its future development policies.
