The impact of urban stress on socialization
Abstract
Algeria has witnessed shifts or changes on the urban field level, in the past
decades. These changes touched the social, cultural, political and economic aspects
of life, and caused structural transformations that affected the socialization
institutions in the city. This latter has posed many deep problems through spatial
imbalances and lack of homogeneity and the proliferation of shanty towns and
slums, poverty, unemployment, exclusion, marginalization, the informal urban
economy and the deterioration of the environmental system. Hence it has become
a feature of the Algerian city. All these difficult problems formed the real
challenges that prevented the achievement of any urban development or rational
adaptation in the urban field.
