The relationship of the academic self-concept with motivation for academic achievement among a sample of middle school students “Field study in the municipality of Ouargla”

Abstract

The present study aims to discover the relationship between academic selfconcept and academic performance motivation among a sample of the first and the
fourth year pupils at middle school، as well as to discover the differences in academic
performance motivation among them. The basic study sample consisted of 342 pupils
and the collection of data was based on the following tools:Academic self-concept form.
Academic performance motivation measure (lipper 2005)، translated into Arabic by
Ahmed Alwan and Khaled Mouatatyat.
The study found the following results:
- Academic performance motivation level of the first and fourth year middle
school pupils was high، and that the academic performance motivation was different
among them depending on their sex and their level of study.
- There is a relationship between internal and external academic self-concept and
their academic performance motivation
