Risk-taking behavior and its relationship to traffic accidents among drivers
Abstract
Traffic accidents are one of the most dangerous phenomena which hinder the development of
communities, including human, economic and psychological damages…, and because of the
continuous increase of the traffic accidents, many of researchers are interesting to figure out their
causes.Researchers have sought to study the influential factors of the driver attitude, focusing on him
as a main part in traffic, the present study aims to research if drivers have behavior of risk, and as
long as there is a relationship between this latter and committing traffic accidents, recognizing the
differences between the behavior of risk samples according to some variables (gender, age, family
status, educational level, seniority in driving, driving license type, insurance type), within the
descriptive analytical approach, the study adopted on a sample of (169) drivers of whom committed
accidents, as a behavior of risk criterion was used ( prepared by researchers ). The results of this
study were the decrease of behavior of risk average in the sample, and there is a relationship with
statistical significance between behavior of risk and traffic accidents, as well there are statistically
significant differences according to the variables of gender, age, family status, seniority in driving,
driving license type, insurance type, but concerning the variable of educational level, differences were
not statistically significant.
