Smart cities: concept, dimensions and components

Abstract

Since its inception, cities are centres for gathering activities and individuals. The city is the place where people used to live and practice their various life activities, and those who follow the lives of city dwellers seek the transformation of most of their activities to rely on information and communication technologies. Where a group of electronic activities spread in the last decade of the twentieth century, such as e-commerce, education and remote treatment, and not only did it limit services activities, but it also extended to work activities as well.

Given that the city is the entity that contains all these activities, important changes have begun to take place in its urban, social and economic structure in response to the requirements of these new electronic activities, and several designations have emerged for cities dependent on technologies, including smart cities, and from this the study posed a question about the concept of smart cities, Levels and dimensions.
