Electronic Management of Medical Records in Hospitals: The Electronic Medical Record of the Patient as a Model - A Case Study of the Mixed Hospital in Ras El Ma, Sidi Bel Abbes, Algeria.
Abstract
In light of the technological revolution and digital transformation, transitioning from traditional management to electronic management has become an urgent necessity to improve the quality of healthcare services. This study aims to highlight the role of the Electronic Medical Record (DEM) as a modern model for achieving effective digitalization in the public healthcare sector. The study adopted a descriptive methodology and a case study approach, focusing on the Mixed Hospital of Ras El Ma in the Wilaya of Sidi Bel Abbes, where the electronic system in use was analyzed, and its impact on the quality of healthcare services was evaluated. The study found that the Electronic Medical Record is a pivotal tool in achieving electronic management. It serves as a unified platform for managing patient data, contributing to improved diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up across various medical departments. Despite its numerous benefits, the implementation process faces several challenges. The study provided practical recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of this system and maximize its benefits.
