The role of civic education curricula in primary education in citizenship education

Abstract

Tis study aims to analyze the educational content of the curriculum in primary
education to learn about citizenship contained in civic education curriculum in primary
education values where the researcher used the curriculum content analysis, and the
sample represented in the civic education curriculum first, second, third, fourth and fifth in
primary education for years issued in 2011. The study found the following results:
- aimed civic education curriculum in primary education to prepare good citizens through
the development of citizenship values among students.
- included the contents of the civics curriculum in primary education a range of values of
citizenship represented in the duties and values of belonging to the homeland, rights and
values, and the values of the environment and the values of democratic values.
- that civic education for primary education curriculum focused on the development of the
duties of citizenship more than the rest of the other values and that these values are
distributed across the curriculum was not balanced.
