Abstract

Fertility, is one of the most important demographic phenomena affected by the rapid and
profound changes taking place in the social life. This changes have played an important role in the the
drop of the fertility rates in the Algerian society . This paper aims to investigate the impact of
socioeconomic changes that have affected the number of women’s offspring in the Algerian
society.The study concluded that the reproductive was affected by the change in women's social status
and their role in the family, which was reflected in their reproductive behavior. Most families adopted
family planning and birth control in order to keep up with the changes imposed by some aspects of
social change on Algerian society
