Abstract

The waqf is considered like the clearest picture of volunteer permanent charity, it
has many characteristics and specifications that distinguish it from others concepts, by
mainly its widening horizons fields, and the ability to develop methods of dealing with. All
of this has ensured for Muslim community the compassion and mutual affection between its
members at all levels, political, economic and social experienced by the Islamic nation
over the past four centuries. The Waqf system is an important source of the community
vitality and it has a great impact on the effectiveness of the social values by solidarity
between the community members, the thing that is transmitted from one generation to
another. And when looking at the various aspects of different social responsibilities of
companies, we find them among those which exist in the Islamic legislation under various
names: some ofthem, such as social solidarity and other from the Promotion of Virtue and
Prevention of Vice, and others which speak about the ethical practices stated in either a
Quranic text or Hadeeth. All of this falls under the so-called Islamic Waqf taken by
companies like Sonatrach, which considers it as a function that enhances its social status
and civil responsibilities.
