The sociology of political participation (a study on the factors affecting political participation)
Abstract
Political participation represents the foundation of any democratic system, and is
considered one of the absolute conditions for it, even the future of democracy depends on it.
Thus we cannot talk about democracy in isolation from political participation, which has
become an important factor in the development and rules of good governance mechanisms
and also the so-called "sustainable development". As political participation is an act of
politics, this act or, political behavior, is shaped and consisted in the social context of
individuals, and this context extends to economic, political, social and cultural matters.
Therefore, we seek in this research for a sociological perspective of the political participation
and the factors influencing it, as the sociological approach launches from the fundamental
perception of the effect that it is impossible to understand the political system and the
political reaction to the community without linking it to the social, economic and cultural
systems of the community.
