The Impact of Social Media Platforms on Identity and Cultural Heritage within Arab Communities
Abstract
Social media platforms have dominated the relationships among people and the way they communicate with each other in an unlimited number of ways. Virtual communication has been more prevalent due to the use of social media platforms enhanced by the application of modern technology. This helped people to gain access to more communication options open to the world, encouraging freedom and breaking away from all social or intellectual restrictions prevailing in society. Social media platforms have significantly impacted contemporary Arab societies, dismantling the stronghold of identity and heritage in a digitally dominated world. The present scientific paper examines the impact of social media platforms on identity and heritage in Arab society. Its aim is to reach the (positive and negative) changes they have brought about in society.
