Evolution of penal systems
Abstract
Penal institutions vary between closed institutions based on the idea of the seriousness of the offender and open institutions based on mutual trust between the prison administration and the convict, and semi-open institutions based on a combination of the two systems The penal system in Algeria has adopted a closed environment system, establishing preventive and re-education institutions and rehabilitation institutions; It has also established specialized centres for juvenile women, as well as open environment institutions in the form of peasant, industrial or service centres. or of public interest, specifically for the purpose of carrying out the sentence.
