Copyright and Licensing

Copyright and Licensing

For all articles published in the Journal of Science and Knowledge Horizons (JSKP), the authors retain copyright. Articles are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International license. This license allows anyone to download and read the articles for free. Additionally, the work may be reused and cited, provided that the original published version is properly credited. These conditions ensure maximum exposure and use of the work while giving authors due recognition.

In exceptional cases, articles may be licensed differently. Authors with specific conditions (e.g., due to funding requirements) that prevent the use of this license should inform the JSKP Editorial Board. Exceptions are made at the publisher's discretion.

Reproducing Material Published by Other Publishers

Authors must obtain permission to reproduce any published material (figures, charts, tables, or text excerpts) that is not in the public domain or for which they do not own the copyright. Permission must be sought from the copyright holder, typically the original publisher, whose details can usually be found in the publication's imprint.

Permission is Required For:

  • Your own works published elsewhere, where copyright has not been retained.
  • Substantial excerpts from any third-party works.
  • Unaltered or minimally altered tables, graphs, charts, or artwork.
  • Images not owned by the authors.

Permission is Not Required For:

  • Reconstructed tables using previously published data, with proper citation (e.g., "Data from..." or "Adapted from...").
  • Short quotations considered fair use.
  • Graphs, charts, or artwork significantly redrawn or altered by the authors beyond recognition.

Obtaining Permission

To avoid delays in the publishing process, authors should begin seeking permissions as early as possible. If in doubt, seek permission. The JSKP cannot publish material from other publications without the necessary permissions.

The copyright holder may provide specific instructions for acknowledgment. If none are provided, use the following format:
"Reproduced with permission from [author], [title of book/journal]; published by [publisher], [year]." Include this at the end of captions for tables, figures, or charts.

Other Materials

All other materials on the Journal of Science and Knowledge Horizons website (e.g., text, code, artwork, photographs, images, and audiovisual content) are owned by the Journal of Science and Knowledge Horizons, its affiliated institution, and its licensors.

Open Access Policy

The Journal of Science and Knowledge Horizons (JSKP) is an open-access journal, making all content freely available to users and their institutions. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles without prior permission from the publisher or author, in line with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition of open access.
