Abstract

The article aims to expose the conception of the Muslim Philosopher Taha Abdurrahman for the concept of culture, derived from the Islamic Religion and its principles. Furthermore, the article also exposes his view of the intellectual, his duties towards his nation and the priorities that top the list of these duties. The aforementioned points aim to present a new conception of culture that is unfamiliar to researchers. The research concluded that the concept of the intellectual in contemporary Islamic philosophy, as conceptualized by Taha Abdurrahman, is defined within the framework of "al-Marabata", where the intellectual assumes the responsibility of defending the cultural frontier. This requires the marabout intellectual, who is ready to sacrifice their life in the path of Allah, defending the frontier they are appointed to. This can only be achieved if the intellectual is conscious of the true responsibility they have chosen to undertake
