Immigration as a Strategy for Professional Success: The Case of Tunisian Doctors

Abstract

      The aim of this study was to investigate and analyze the phenomenon of the migration of doctors, which is considered one of the prominent social and economic issues in modern societies. This phenomenon reflects profound impacts on various vital sectors, including the educational sector, which has prompted research into the underlying aspects and causes behind it.

The study relied on a qualitative approach using a questionnaire as a data collection tool, while referring to sociological theories to systematically and deeply interpret the phenomenon. The paper also aimed to highlight the main motivations that lead doctors to make the decision to migrate, whether based on professional ambition or the pursuit of better economic and social conditions.

The study concluded that economic reasons represent a primary factor driving doctors to migrate, as many systems suffer from a lack of material and moral incentives. Additionally, social reasons such as the absence of job appreciation and poor working conditions emerged as additional factors contributing to this decision.

The study concluded that it is essential to adopt comprehensive measures to address these challenges with the aim of retaining competencies and enhancing their stability within national frameworks.
