The Applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Development of Islamic Banking Services and Operations: - Current Reality and Future Aspirations-
Abstract
This study aims to examine how Islamic banks employ artificial intelligence technologies and addresses a core research question concerning the ways in which these institutions can utilize AI to improve the quality of their services and financial operations while remaining fully aligned with Shariah principles. The study outlines foundational concepts related to artificial intelligence, highlights major challenges that limit optimal implementation, and explores future prospects that could support deeper technological integration. The findings indicate that current artificial intelligence applications in Islamic banking are still limited due to legal, technical, and regulatory constraints, yet these obstacles can be addressed through a comprehensive governance framework that promotes responsible adoption. The study also emphasizes the importance of continuously upgrading the digital infrastructure and recommends analyzing real-world experiences of Islamic banks that have implemented advanced AI tools to assess their effectiveness and derive models appropriate for the Islamic banking context and ensure sustainable growth.
