COPE Core Practices Aligned

Dirassat Journal Economic Issue (DJEI) complies fully with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) criteria regarding authorship. This policy establishes clear criteria for qualifying as an author, governs changes to authorship, delineates the duties of the corresponding author, and specifies how non-author contributions should be acknowledged.

1. Criteria for Authorship

To qualify as an author, every listed contributor must satisfy all four international criteria:

1. Substantial Contribution

Significant intellectual input into the conception, theoretical framing, design of the study, data acquisition, analysis, or statistical interpretation.

2. Drafting & Revision

Drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for crucial intellectual and scientific content.

3. Final Approval

Reviewing and approving the definitive version of the manuscript prior to formal submission and publication.

4. Accountability

Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the research, ensuring integrity and accuracy of the scientific work.

2. Corresponding Author Responsibilities & Authorship Changes

Role of the Corresponding Author:
Acts as the primary communication link between the journal and co-authors during submission, peer review, and production. The corresponding author ensures that all co-authors are listed correctly, have reviewed the final version, and have provided their institutional details and ORCID identifiers.
Authorship Changes (Pre- & Post-Publication):
Any addition, removal, or rearrangement of author names requires a formal written request explaining the rationale, signed by all authors (including any author being added or removed), strictly in accordance with COPE flowcharts. Authorship changes post-publication are only implemented via a published Corrigendum.
Prohibition of Unethical Authorship:
DJEI strictly prohibits Ghost authorship (omitting substantial contributors), Guest/Gift authorship (listing individuals without scientific contribution), and honorary listings.

3. Contributorship & Acknowledgments

Individuals who provided valuable support but do not fulfill all four authorship criteria (e.g., technical assistance, language proofreading, statistical software consultation, or departmental support) must not be listed as authors. Instead, their specific contributions should be formally acknowledged in an Acknowledgments section at the end of the manuscript, with their prior consent.

Funding Declaration: All financial and material support, research project grants, and institutional sponsorship must be explicitly stated in the manuscript.
