Misalignment and efficiency of the parallel exchange rate "Case of the Algerian dinar"
Abstract
The deviations of the exchange rate from its reel equilibrium level lead to economic disadvantages particularly on its level of international competitiveness and its level of distributing resources. For that matter, the Algerian monetary authorities have been pushed to ensure the reel currency rate's stability in its equilibrium level. It contributes to promote an appropriate investment climate through monetary reforms aiming to reduce on one hand the deviation between official currency rate and the parallel currency rate, and to achieve economic stability on the other.
This paper aims to study the extent of using the Algerian dinar's parallel currency rate as a tool to evaluate the degree of deviation of the currency rate equilibrium level.
