Impact of Stock Market Indices on Economic Growth in the country of Oman Using the ARDL model for the period (1993-2016)
Abstract
This study aims at finding the relationship between indices of the stock market represented in the value of trading, the market value of stock and economic growth represented by the GDP in the country of Oman during the period 1993-2016 through the use of the ARDL model.
The results showed that an increase in the market value by 01% leads to an increase in real growth by 1.55% over the long term. In contrast, the role of trading volume in economic growth was noticed due to the weakness of the number of brokerage companies and the effect of the competition on the stock exchange.
